The God Cares Charities blueprint is a comprehensive approach to fostering growth in urban communities. It is designed to equip individuals socially, economically and spiritually. Having done this work for a number of years, we've found that participants' success depends greatly upon financial sustainability.
Therefore, we work aggressively to prepare our participants to be competitive in the workforce. We will accomplish this through career skills training, in which participants learn how to complete job applications, write resumes, conduct effective job interviews, negotiate and accept job offers, and achieve long term success in their careers. God Cares Thrift Stores are the driving force behind the Urban Initiative-it serves dual roles. It's a model for doing business inside the urban community and a template for economic progressiveness. The God Cares model is unique because all revenues generated from the Thrift Center are recycled back into the community it serves. The Thrift Center also serves as a resource for participants offering inexpensive, quality clothing. For example, at the completion of the job training battery, participants are issued a voucher to be used towards the purchase of clothing suitable for job interviews. Some graduates may even attain employment at the Thrift Centers. |
